I genuinely love treadmill running: winter, spring, summer or fall you can always find me on my treadmill. I will admit, my treadmill running does decrease during the warmer months. But I still make time for a good treadmill run at least twice a week during the summer months. These runs are usually designed as a workout, something to elevate my heart rate to at least 80% max and even though I'm inside, I am usually drenched in sweat. For me there is something about running on the treadmill that I can't get outdoors.
I've tried to explain to other people who seriously question my sanity of running on the treadmill when it's a beautiful day out, but I find the steady pace and rhythm of running on the treadmill mesmerizing. Yes, there are people who say they can get that same feeling running outdoors and while I somewhat agree, when I'm on my treadmill its just me, no other distractions. I don't have to worry about people trying to run me over in their cars (happens all the time!), stopping at traffic lights, being chased by dogs, the occasional teenage boy who propositions me, or dreaded bees and wasps (my biggest fear!). So if you're like me and still run on the treadmill during the summer months, that's awesome. And if you think those of us are crazy for spending summer days inside on the treadmill, give it a try, who knows, maybe we will convert you!!
